Question  How can we solve the power problem in India..?
Question details   everybody knows that in India, in almost every city & village, electricity problem is one of the major problem now a days. No industry can run without power. Without power if they continue running, production cost use to increase and again products are use to be expensive due to the increasing production cost. Is there any fault at government end or any change in government policy can solve this power problem.

Not sure because we need to seriously think over the government policies and government especially politicians interfare in government decisions, then only we can think off a cheerful india.

First of all the maintenance of the existing system is most crucial part. The government should now involve private players to make the existing system more efficient and suitable according to the present requirement. A lot has changed since our country got independence. Demand is always increasing. But, do we have the proper system to take care of the existing power users and customers of government run electricity boards.Illegal use, corruption, negligence, shortage of infrastructure, skilled labor and manpower and many more things are making our existing system rotten. I see no future if things are handled this way and will only get worse. If the government is not able to run its electricity boards then they should take help from private companies and even foreign investors.

If we determined we can solve the power problem in india.we have to do is to establish solar power plant in every rural region of our country where there is no electricity at all.Again we can generate electricity with the utility of rivers water, making water-power, wind -power, etc.our goverment has to take various project on this power problem and the way out.and our scientist have to research on this issue to solve the power problem.

The technologies are diverse and many, ranging from a very simple box type solar cooker to intelligent wind turbines with sophisticated power electronics. This vast range of technologies includes micro turbines (up to 100 kW), biogas plants, dual fuel engines, gas engines, solar photovoltaic cell, solar concentrators, water wheels, water turbines, windmills for water pumping, modern wind turbines, hybrid energy systems, renewable energy systems in grid connected and off-grid mode and many more. Successful experiments with alternative energy could provide more durable solutions to India’s chronic shortages, as Germany today has 8,000 MW of electricity generation capacity based on wind.

There is no problem without a solution, rather when a problem arises, it means that something needs to be changed which is the law of nature. In this case, first of all, our Govt should just think of the current sources of power ie burning coal!! Now coal is a limited natural resource which is bound to be finished one day and we will be helpless and its current use is inviting so many health troubles as well. So the best solution is to use N-power, which is pretty economical and eco-friendly. We have been using it at a small scale but the now it\`s the time to see a full match and not just the highlights!! If something better is available and is more useful than the existing one, it should be given a warm hug!! Isn\`s it??

I dont think in India, this power problem can be solved. even after so much efforts done by reliance power project. nothing seems to be happening here.

Noel
Power consumption by power-intensive and low-efficiency industries should be strictly restricted, and power supply to enterprises with serious pollution and conflicting state industrial policies should be halted. Accelerate upgrading the power grids will resolve power shortage.

Sachin
Even if it a big city or a small village, this power problem is available everywhere. There sre number of power cuts every where for long periods, even sometime for hours and for days as well. In other countries, this power problem is also there but they use to arrange power backup facility as well. But in India only cut no recovery. I feel that Indian government can solve this electricity problem by changing its policies and saving power by number of awareness campaigns.

We can overcome this issue by establishing more wind power enery, and we can produce power from the sewages, and we should insist on power consuption in domestic as well as in industrial parts . we have to produce more hydro power plant in south side because of there is a source of water in the south side to produce it. And last but most important thing is in the farmers side,we can take into account of farmers having more land and we can leave rest of farmer having small properties. we can collect some minimum amount as a tariff for consuption instead of full free of cost for the farmers. with that amount i think we can produce more power.

First of all Indian Govt. has taken a right step by finalizing the nuclear deal with America. After that the proper maintainence of whatever capabilities we have so that minimal power is lost during the distribution and transmission process. One more important thing is more and more usage of solar energy in the electricity production. I think specially in north India we have minimal use of solar or wind energy. It can save a lot of energy which can be used for various other purposes. So quite a few things to be done and its not only the Govt. but we are also liable to save and use energy effectively to govt a helping hand. Thanks

Mohammad
India should moove on to natural power projects likes, power from wind, sunlight and water.for this the govt of india must allow a reasonable financial assistence.wind power project on oceans, make and use big sollar pannels having high power cappacity and last start the already proposed water power projects on differend parts of country

Shailender
I think the solution of the power problem is to consider this problem at the village and small cities level..the power consumptiom at their places is too much....and government policies should be applied very strictly and officers should know about their responsibilities..

Tanuja
Government is doing effort from its side, but the problem is so enlarged that it will take some time to get solved. The best possible remedy i think is to have SOLAR ENERGY equipments available in every home in villages and towns. As they are low on economic terms also dont cost much. In cities also people are getting used to Solar equipments such as solar press, heater, cooker, stoves, solar heater rods, as they dont cost much, and can be easily available and also are very easy to operate and use. So for this problem solution will be adding 2,3 nearby houses by one major solar equipment or we can have a major equipment for the whole village also(even if its not very large). And charge it by Solar rays and can provide electricity to everyone slowly but effectively. Villagers cant give huge amount of electricity bills but can do efforts for SOLAR & BIO power.

Mohd
Just need to follow law of energy conversion i.e. we must use solar energy to produce electricity. another way is to opt better method in electricity production, we have to use nuclear reators rather that obselete hydrolic system.

Hi, Let us get to the basics here. *Why are we getting this power problem? Because the need is increasing. *Why the need is increasing? Because the population is increasing. *Why is the population increasing? Because there is no strict control measures to reduce the population. All in all, one can sum it up as \"Its not just the Power Problem here, we are facing difficulties in our day-today life mainly due to our \`over-population\`.\"

By doing awareness program among the common people in india about the power problem & people themselves should be responsible and cautious about this seriousness of it. Everybody in India should understand it & they only can make their life more comfortable themselves by saving power and avoiding the unnecessary illegal mis-utilization of power.

Arun
First of all awareness should be provided to the every individual of India, that our daily life is depends on electricity,so that the can understand the proper use of electricity and don\`t waste it.Also Indian Government should take some steps for the production of power i.e dams, thermal power plant etc should be come under plan.

Its not so easy. but always there is a way. We have to do three projects in parallel. Project -1 Infrastructure There are many countries where the power interruption is very low. Some are in Asia too (Like South Korea). Strategically we can import the proven system for transmission and distribution loss management and utilize them as a model in some area. Say if 10 different proven systems are there we can select 30 model area and use them in these 30 area (3 each). the after 2 years we can decide to go with one system -- or a new developed Indian system. n parallel we have to do two more things in development of infrastructure. We develop the transmission and generation too. Then we can utilize complete generated power effectively without lowest possible loss. Project 2: We shall execute some effective campaign on energy saving. We have to educate, motivate and control people for the same. Increasing slab system in domestic consumption is very effective. In industries also we an practice the same. We shall create some government supported subsidiary body who can work as power consultant to reduce the losses in all small and medium industries. Rainwater harvesting, encouragement in use of solar & wind energy shall continue. We have to make people feel that energy saving is generation. Project 3 -- The most critical -- we have to be very strict on power theft. However this is there already but not so much effective till date for many reason. We must stop power theft at any cost. moreover we have to implement some act against wastage of Power in Domestic consumers. Nobody shall waste power in Domestic. This can be overlapped with project 2 above.

Use Solar wind and other natural energy with cola petrol and other form of energy. try to find more source of energy. Save energy at individual and goverment level.Save all form of energy because create energy is save energy

Suresh
S olar energy is the most readily available source of energy. It does not belong to anybody and is, therefore, free. It is also the most important of the non-conventional sources of energy because it is non-polluting and, therefore, helps in lessening... No energy source is perfect, but nuclear energy and wind energy comes close when it comes to cost savings. Many companies come up with innovative use of power source like solar power ,wind energy ,heat energy that are lasting ,but they often lack funds halting their further advancements. Whenever you save energy, you not only save money, you also reduce the demand for such fossil fuels as coal, oil, and natural gas. Less burning of fossil fuels also means lower emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), the primary contributor to global

Sushant
In my view there is only one source of get-rid of power problem and that is using more and more renewable source of energy which are given by nature to us, like (Solar, Wind etc.). They need one time investment but are long run useful sources.

Ravi
If we introduce centralized power system for villages, the cost could increase again. ... government needs to solve electricity supply

Rajib
One of the besst source of power production is Geothermal Power Plant. Geothermal power requires no fuel, and is therefore virtually emissions free and insusceptible to fluctuations in fuel cost. And because a geothermal power station doesn\`t rely on transient sources of energy, unlike, for example, wind turbines or solar panels, its capacity factor can be quite large; up to 90% in practice. The GSI (Geological Survey of India) has identified 350 geothermal energy locations in the country. The most promising of these is in Puga valley of Ladakh. The estimated potential for geothermal energy in India is about 10000 MW. The electricity can cover upto hundreds of cities and can power up thousands of houses in cheap prices. It can replace the Coal-power plants currently present in India, which consumes thousands of metric tons of coal each month, generating huge amount of air pollution. Moreover, India is surrounded by water in its three sides, these water bodies can be used in Hydel power plants. Like Geothermal power plants, these plants too, requires no fuel, and is therefore virtually emissions free and insusceptible to fluctuations in fuel cost. The rest of power requirement can easily be solved by these power plants.

There is numbers of steps to be taken by supplers and consumers : 1. Use solar energy equipments. 2. Recoverey of bill payment should be in hi-tech way. 3. Reduce electricity losses during transaction. 4. Pre paid electric meter should be installed in all electric connections. 5. Use natural resources instead of electric resources. 6. Total contral on misuse of electric. 7. New power Gernation Unit should be establishe.

Katha
We can rely more on Solar energy

Jeffry
The main objective is to add more and more power generation plant, reduce the Loss & reduce the subsidy. As far as generation is concern; over the past few months, concerns pertaining to fuel availability, water scarcity, and equipment supply have increased. While the government has initiated steps to address these problems, simultaneously it is also working on plans to offset any slippages through the following measures: 1. Projects that are in early stages of construction in the private sector and also which are being built for captive generation but having surplus capacity can be linked to the grid. 2. Expediting some portion of the Twelfth Plan projects to enable them to be commissioned in the current plan. 3. Improved domestic natural gas availability so that several gas projects (which are not operational due to lack of fuel) can be commissioned.

Only uranium can solve the power problem in india, there are many other power sources like hydel, thermal, wind, tidal but its insufficient to make up the power needs and so only nuclear power energy can do it and the deal is in process so we cant complain gov. but the deal process should speed up uptil now.

Sindhura
It is better to save electricity that we already have, than having to produce more to meet huge demands. whenever there are grand celebrations like sports events during the night, festival celebrations, fairs, especially in the cities, there have to be set limits for electricity usage. using electricity judiciously during such times, could help power a whole village for a day. advertisements hoardings that need lighting should also be limited. generally, electricity used for commercial purposes should be priced higher. there could also be limits for usage per family.

Alpesh
Yes, we can solve the power problem in India. We have to begin from us. I have to begin from myself. I will try to use less electricity of my home as much as possible. If all will start to use less electricity definately we can have more electricity.

Sudhakar
1) Save power to wastage 2) Use Solar systems as possible as we can, for example at Road lights 3) Provide power according to requirement for example home, industry etc. 4) Everybody off the power wherever is not required

Akhilesh
‘only uranium can solve India’s power problem’

Ashutosh
Not Everytime goverment can me pointed out.if there is a problem certainly there is a solution for it,but one needs to maintain his cool and look ahead with a optimistic approach. Not even the government but even the private sectors are playing a crucial role to overcome the situation.Government at best is making efforts to come under the pact with US to have a supplement of nuclear power thereby creating power for industries and for domestic purposes.Private sectors are playing huge role in developing dams so as to fill the void of reduced power. There should be a regulatory system who should have a check on the large scale runnning industries to know the stats of how much power consumed and in correspondence to the power required to produce the same output.Natural resources should be exploited aesthetically to create the power. All we need to have is patience and work conssitenly in the positive so that we come out with positive results in the future

Solar Energy A new Vision...Today world as well as India is facing power, electricity problems.Solar energy is a one energy which can help us humans to solve These problems which today we are facing. In India this solar energy can become a boon for us. As in India normally we have sun for all 12 months in the sky. In a rainy season also we can see sun for few hours daily. We just need to make a one law and our power problem will be reduced

When we go for a vote, we realize only a thing abt the party we choose to be ruled, but somehow its wasnt be. coz of the party people who only needs a vote but not giving wat the people actually deserves. I should strongly be said that kindly give votes to change the situations as some how may be one day it happens....

IF WE(PEOPLE) DONT SAVE ELECTRICITY AND NATURAL RESOURCES WE CANNOT SOLVE THE POWER PROBLEM IN INDIA. CONSERVE IT AND MAKE INDIA BRIGHT

In India this solar energy can become a boon for us. As in India normally we have sun for all 12 months in the sky. In a rainy season also we can see sun for few hours daily. We just need to make a one law and our power problem will be reducedUp to 50% or more. Already in USA they are utilizing solar power successfully, they are even planning full cities which will utilize only solar energy. I think our politicians are too intelligent may be solar energy is dangerous for Indians. I am uneducated person let me know why we don’t promote solar energy in India. USA Florida, they have started to build solar cities also. USA Chicago, they are using electric cars with solar energy. So I was suggesting one simple law we need to introduce and our 75% power electricity problem will be solved. Today people in metro cities are buying flats, apartments at a cost of 1 crore, or 10 million or 1 million. The builders are building very costly apartments without the solar energy panel roofs. The government of India should make a law that new buildings should have compulsory Solar tiles or panels be installed otherwise the building will be considered illegal. After that slowly this rule is applied to all old buildings. In each city we all know how many building are there if there are 1000 buildings just see how much electricity and power will be saved. More ever solar energy is freely available, good for environment. Solar energy panels, roof titles are easy to repair, they are reliable they can be used for more than 20 years. To install the solar panels on the roof of building is very easy and simple process any one can do it with little experience. Do you think our any political party has this vision; they are still fighting on same 100 year old problems.

GOVERMENT POLIC TAKE IMPRTANT PALACE IN POWER PROBLUM . THEIR IS NEED TO MAKE DIFFERENT POLICY FOR POWER MAKING LIKE HYDRO POWER PROJECT ,NUCLEAR POWER PROJECT ,POWER PRODUCTION BAY WESTE MATERIAL.BECAUSE IF WE DEPEND ONLY THERMAL POWER PROJECT THEN WE WILL DESTROY OUR COAL MINE SHORLTY .THEN THEIE IS NEED TO FIND DIFFERENT SOURCE OF POWER MAKING .FOR THIS THEIR IS NEED TO SERACH DIFFERENT SORCE OF POWER MAKING FOR GOVERMENT .AND IF GOVERMENT TAKE IT THEIE MAIN CONCERN THEN DIFFINATELY WE INCRESE OUR POWER PRODUCTION .

As we know that day by day the industries are incresing , they requires more power for production , about 70 % of electricty is consumed in industrial area and 30 % of electricty is consumed in residential area . so the first step of govt. is to use of solar energy . and stop wasting of electricity . the govt. can make a law for wasting of electricity , after breaking a law is strictily punishable . we see in marriages , hotels , parks and resorts using bulbs , merciry lights . thease lights is consumed more electricity, so the govt,. can stop for using thease lights and using only cfl.

First of I love to answer this question which is so elite to reach each other\`s Idea.. First of let pour some alternative energy for electricity.. 1)Solar Energy (solar lamps, solar heaters, solar inverters) 2)Wind Energy(mini wind turbines) 3)Hydro Electricity(Small bladed motors near running water) 4)Geothermal energy(large pumps to generate thermal energy) 5)OTEC(OCEAN THERMAL ENERGY CONVERSION) 6)Nuclear reactor( Nuclear Fission is the main process) 7)fluorescent Energy (feasible energy) still more to go ... like biological battery.. every energy and inventions must be used in optimum way to compromise the other energy.. Now we have to think where and when we need to apply what energy and How much we need... Education Lead Us... Alternative energy is the only resource to sustain survival in low power supply to our nation..

Zarina
First we should make people aware of the value of electricity.educate them about conserving water and fuel.this education should start at home with children.once conservation starts, savings will be more.after that the government should set up an expert committe to look into other sources like solar power

Most of the people would say that the change in government policy will help solve power problem.well, I don\`t disagree with them, but i think that we as citizens are more responsible towards this problem. People from rural areas face 12-14 hrs of load shedding. But there is hardly any noise about it. In fact the issue always revolves around the major cities. How many of us spend countless hours watching TV, playing computer games, music etc. In fact the usage of electricity on our side is increasing day by day. If we don\`t curb our needs of electricity, it is always going to be difficult for the government to provide electric supply to our ever increasing needs.yes, there needs to be certain policies that the government should take such as creating awareness against water and electricity wastage, funding projects that provide for an alternate sources of energy, inviting ideas, promoting renewable sources of energy. all these things along with more responsibility from our side will certainly help solve the power problem. After all, we are responsible for selecting the government and hence, we should take responsibility for its actions.

There are so many brains are thinking about the power problem of India. I will just share my mind. No more introduction here is the idea. Of course make people aware about the problem ann make them realize the importance of preserve the electricity is he greatest way to over come. But we may solve the problem by making few steps as well. A large ammount of electricity goes behid the street lights. As photo electric cells are not too costly, it would not be so expensive to set up a solar power source an a rechargable battery with the street lights. And light depended switch should be set up with each and every street light. Using the lights with low expense of electricity the expense of electricity in domestic purpose may be turned into half. Making more Electric Powerplants(of course using nature energy such as water , air) the demand may be fullfiled.

Ankur
Superconducting materials can solve the problem of the power lost due to no electrical resistance.Conventional aluminum or copper power lines have a certain amount of natural resistance to the flow of electricity, so some energy is lost as heat during transmission.Another advantage of such a system is it would be buried underground.. thanxx..

Dear sir We can not blame only government for the power crises in India. Government has given lots to rebate in Electricity Bills and all, In Many area of the India, people are using electricity and dont pay bill, they use excessive electricity etc. Yes Government policy must be modified, we must promote Solar/alternative electricity sources at home level so we can spend more electricity at Industry level with less cost. I am a biotechnologist, and I have created a MICROBIAL FUEL CELL, which utilize BACTERIA AND WASTE WATER TO GENERATE ELECTRICITY IN VERY NEGLIGIBLE COST. It can be used to light a village, with its own wastewater without much expanse (It acts like wastewater treatment system and electricity generation also), If anybody needs more information, certainly I can provide. I have write to government (Ministry of Environment) to promote such kind to schemes. thanks
